Happy Sunday. How was your weekend?

My weekend was relaxing. I took a walk in the morning, played animal crossing, read, watched some YouTube, workout and in the evening I watched the Mentalist.

I'm currently reading Vengeful by V.E Schwab and I am already loving it and I only read 40 pages haha. It took me a year to pick up this book. Vicious was the first book I read in 2020. I'm just so bad at finishing series and this year I want to finish all the series that I started, hopefully 😂

Taking instagram photos is stressing me out. I don't have the energy to take a bunch of pictures in one go and I don't feel like taking a picture every day. The theme that I had for a few weeks took me way too much energy. Energy I don't have at the moment. Every time I got a new book I didn't want to do the whole taking photos and edit them process.

I am not a creative person, my photos will never be creative. My last theme also took away my joy for bookstagram. So I decided that I would go back to the theme I had before. I call it " the bookshelf theme ". It is simple, doesn't take a lot of time and I always enjoy those pictures the most.

So yes, this will be the last theme change for a very long time. Yes I also did said that with my other theme 😂🤫

For Vrouwenthrillers, I got to read Karen McManus' latest book. A book that I have been looking forward to for a long time and had high expectations. It is different from her other books which can be a good thing! I just expected so much more. If you want to read McManus her books, this is not the best book to start with. You can read my English review on my blog. I gave it a 3.5.

I also read this book for my reading club @thrillerleesclub .

I received this edition from Illumicrate. It got stunning black edges!

Q: Are you a slow or fast reader?

This month my reading is going so slow and tbh I actually don't care. It makes me enjoy reading more and understand the book better. For a long time I had the feeling that I had to read a book quickly and then quickly move on to another book. This often comes across through bookstagram. That you have to read a lot of books. For me, this made reading less enjoyable and sometimes felt more like an obligation than something I did for pleasure. In the end, you just have to ignore how much other people read. Read how much you want. If you read 20 books each month that's great! But reading 1 book each month is also great!

So, reading slowly made me enjoy the books more. 🌻

As you may have noticed, or not haha, I've been a little less active on instagram lately. This is because I am trying to spend less time on my phone and more time doing other things. Normally I spent at least 2 hours on instagram and this has now been reduced to 30-50 minutes. My screen time on my phone has also decreased a lot to 2-3 hours. And am quite satisfied with that since I was always on my phone. Now I spend more time reading, working on my blog, Animal Crossing and taking a walk.

Another reason why I spend less time on instagram / phone is because I'm not feeling great right now. I don't talk about it much because it is personal, but I have depression and am getting treatment for it. I notice that social media makes me feel worse and bookstagram sometimes makes me feel insecure about my photos and reviews.

I see your posts and I read the captions. I just don't always respond anymore because sometimes it takes a lot of effort for me. But I see your posts and I try to comment as often as I can.

Q: What will you be reading this weekend?

Yesterday I finished The Bone Houses and oh my gosh that book was amazing. It was everything I loved in a fantasy book. Fast paced and a lot of action. It was a 5 star read for me and it became one of my favorites!

I'm currently reading The Raven Boys which I am buddy reading with @lovexreading. I haven't read a lot since I have trouble focusing on the story. I'm also quite behind with the buddy read woops. Another book I want to start reading this weekend is a dutch thriller called; De Kliniek. I'm so curious about that one!
