In 2020 I not only read some great books but there were also a few books that I didn’t enjoy. The plot did not appeal to me, there were things that could have been better in my opinion, etc. Such books often get a 2-star rating or sometimes a 1-star rating from me. Fortunately, the list is not long. In this blog post, I will tell you the book that I did not enjoy and why.
Disclaimer: These are my personal opinions and if you see a book that you did enjoy that’s great! But I cannot love every single book I read.
A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer
This was such a disappointment. I was so hyped for this book since ‘ A curse so Dark and Lonely ‘ is one of my favorite books. I know that this book was about Grey, but I do not understand why Brigid would leave Rhen & Harper out of it. Especially when these two characters are important. The plot was not great, and I did not even like the writing style.
The Girl Who Stole An Elephant by Nizrana Farook
The first part of the book I really enjoyed and thought Chaya was such a badass girl. But in the middle part and ending, she changed into an annoying and arrogant person. Some things in the story went over so quickly or did not make any sense. And what was that ending?!
De Saraceense Samenzwering – Era Richmen
This was not a story for me. I was bored throughout the whole book. If I had not read this for the hebban thriller price I would have dnf’d it.
Wat Jij Niet Ziet – M.J Arlinge
This is a short story that we got free if we purchased a book in the bookstore. I have only read Eeny Meeny by M.J Arlinge and the author is quite popular. Unfortunately, this was quite boring and predictable. Nothing interesting happened.
Supper Club – Lara Williams
The writer describes Supper Club as a feminist book where the goal of feminism is clearly missed. Personally, I did not think it was a great book, I was annoyed by Roberta and Stevie and didn’t like some of the jokes. It was not a book for me.
Het Laatste Drakenei – Claudia Boon
This is a self-published author, and I was quite interested in her book. But this book lacked a lot of things. There was barely any character development, the world, magic, and the creatures were barely described, and the writing style wasn’t my thing. I wanted to enjoy it, but unfortunately, I did not.
Cold Case – Tina Frennstedt
I really wanted to like this book since I have only heard good things about it. Unfortunately, the book was very disappointing to me and I had difficulty picking up the book and reading it. The story is slow, and little is happening. The tension and events are in the last 100 pages and still, that disappointed me. Unfortunately, it was not a book for me.
The Princess Saves Herself in This One – Amanda Lovelace
My only one-star rating of the year. All the other books I mentioned I gave two-stars. Let say that I don’t understand why this is such a popular book. I did not like this at all.
